I didnt realise that Marc had been in the army until last night. I cant find any information on this, does anyone else know anything?
It may explain some of his behaviour. Particularly if hes been some where like Aghanistan, and witnessed God nows what, wouldnt go so far as to call it post traumatic stress, but its a well known fact that many ex military often develop alcohol/drug problems once they leave.
Even without that army training alone does affect character (I should know I have had a number of military men in my family) His marked reluctance to let anyone get to close, (his diary room chat last night) is a typical example of what would be classed as weakness in the armed forces. Also his "His live for today, because tomorrow you might be dead" attitude is typical. (a quick well done to Joel for his role in bringing that attitude up with him, plus his diary room thoughts on Marc)
Whatever the issues with him I think hes one of the most interesting characters

I agree. There are layers to Marc, which the curious would like to unravel. He's a very interesting guy.

Marc is a very interesting housemate though IMO and he has basically admitted that he isn't as upfront and cocky as he tries to act which ties in exactly with what someone who knows him in real life said about him, I like to try work out BB housemates, how they will react and what they will say to certain situations and so on, so housemates that are as shallow as a puddle don't really interest me.

One of the most important things that makes him so likable to me is that he doesn't take everything so seriously in there, he is taking BB for what it is, a TV show that they are only going to be part of for a couple of months of their lives so he is trying to have fun, mess around, get drunk and enjoy it the best he can, a lot of the original housemates on the other hand are being far too serious about every little thing and it does get tiring to watch, I mean last night Marcus narrated that Joel had been 'interviewing' his housemates in the bedroom for over an hour, I couldn't be bothered with all that if I was in there tbh

Marc will be the housemate that's remembered from this serious.

Anyway yeah, I don't think Marcs a bad person, or a bully or whatever else is getting thrown around about him, he definitely does go too far with his comments at times yes but you can tell he's genuinely sorry when it gets brought up to him.

Other than that, the guy is ****ing hilarious, I haven't laughed so much at this BB since he entered the house and I'm definitely glad he did.

I agree with Josy ^ But I do think he needs to reign in his comments towards the women abit, He may think it's "banter" but he's not out with his buddies and the girls clearly don't like it

However, he has livened that house up and made it interesting, when he does it at the others expense it shows his true selfish character though.

I knew he was ex army, my nephew is a Sgt in the Light Dragoons and Marcs banter,sense of fun is everyday banter to them ,the things him and his mates do is brilliant, but you need a sense of humour to get it, sadly some people were born without one

I don't think that's fair Chuff, I do like Marc but calling someone a cum bucket etc, isn't funny, it's pretty rude, joking or not and he should have stopped saying things like that when he was asked to, especially by Sam who's apparently his best friend in there, it's disrespectful to her to carry on with those names ets when she's told him plenty of times that she doesn't like it

...hmm I hardly ever disagree with you Josy on anything really and I would certainly agree that Marc's 'interesting' but I don't think he's about having fun, messing about and getting drunk etc...maybe a week or so ago I would have thought the same ...I think that he's someone who has to have and can't tolerate not having 'dominance' over people...whether it be insulting to upset them, wrestling and 'playfight' or whatever I think dominance is a big thing to him..and yes he has some charm as well because otherwise he would be a pretty grim person but I don't think he's a 'about the fun' person...I think that only reason that he dislikes Harry so much is that she won't give him that dominance...she won't openly let him see whether he's upset her with his insults, this little 'mother earth' person who runs around naked all day will not bow down to him/how dare she..so then all he could do is say that she was a brown noser because nothing else would make sense, would it...?..I mean he's Marc the big man...so he's also assuming she much be low in intelligence and mocking her so which he did with how she speaks....he goes to far because he does what he has to do to make people subservient to him and they aren't even then he goes even further to insult them...I think he (has to be..)..quite an insecure person somewhere to feel the need to do what he does to people but I don't think there is any fun or jokey about it at all or anyone in the house not getting his humour....

I haven't thought he was a bully up until last nights episode.

When Jade and Nick were lying by the pool and Marc was purposely splashing them after supposedly doing it 'accidentally' all while taunting Joel and then laughing and stuff when they eventually moved away, that to me was blatant bully tactics trying to intimidate someone who Marc sees that isn't scared of him and i really didn't like it.

Up until that moment i would have agreed that he wasn't a bully, but that whole scenario, imo, showed bully tendencies.

The bully card gets thrown around too much, marc is deffo not a bully. It's just banter. May be a bellend but he's a great guy deep down. Helen from last year was a bully and marc isn't doing what that cretin did tbh

He doesn't need to be as aggressive as her. That he is a bully boy is undeniable, frankly. That there are worse forms of bullying is also undeniable. I wonder how big a bully he'd be with the cameras turned off.

..hmmmm. it's a tricky one because I wouldn't say bully either but someone who likes to feel his dominance over others, whether they be male or female, he just does it in different way with different people...he had that with Sam already in that she was his adoring puppy but then she also conflicted that with saying that she hated him and that e was an idiot etc...so then to insult her the way he did and say that it would turn him on to see her cry ..?....hmmmm, definitely someone who feels the need to dominate and have all others 'subservient'...

Calling someone a cumbucket and constantly making disparaging remarks against the women, even after being asked to stop being so extreme with it, is nasty and takes it away from being fun and jokes, it takes it into nastiness level imo.

Maybe he shouldn't have said that and he got warned for it but i think he is a misunderstood guy. I think he does this at home tbh and it's a habit or trying to avoid home sickness. The sam/marc is deffo a love hate relationship. But mard deffo doesn't say things to be a nasty person imo

I kind of wish I could excuse someone's behaviour that easily because he's naturally very funny, he is however also ver cruel too and he's said himself in the diary room that his behaviour is on purpose because it's his only source of entertainment..

For lack of a better word, a person who uses cruel behaviour for their own entertainment is a bully.

..it's not the words though, that speak his 'dominance' and the need to have it..maybe he shouldn't have said it, it wasn't the smartest thing..?..but imo it's that he thought it/that he felt it whether saying it or not...

My own view on bullying is not that the word gets thrown around too much but that people get too hysterical over it. Some forms are mild and tend to be little more than a guy trying to assert his authority or superiority over others. That is what Marc is all about. But people like that can soon get vicious when they don't get what they want.
