Question Big Brother 12 or Celebrity Big Brother 8 -Which Comes First?

Right now basically as some of you know Channel 5 want to air Celebrity Big Brother 8 this summer and then air Big Brother 12 in Summer 2012.

Now, here's the thing:

Whilst I have no problem at all with them bringing Celebrity Big Brother back, it's still not a good idea IMO to have CBB before Big Brother.

I am glad we will finally be on track with the years for once, which is something I've always said, because now BB12 will be.. well in 2012.
But that's not really relevant.

The thing is with Big Brother returning, it should be big and it should be a big '****** You!' to all the haters who called it pathetic and called the fans sad all these years.

You can't give Big Brother it's 'BIG COMEBACK' by having the Celebrity series on first? I mean it's just silly.

Yeah it makes sense sure to have CBB8 after BB11 but in the summer?
I mean.. er.. I just thought CBB was always suited for Winter.

And do you all think CBB8 will run for 3 weeks or more if it's during summer?
I also can't see big celebrities giving up any longer than 3 Weeks IN THE SUMMER to spend on a show that has such bad press.

Celebrity Big Brother returning before Big Brother 12 is a bad idea IMO really, yeah it will probably bring in more viewers than BB11 got because as we all know the general public these days prefer Celebrity Big Brother to the original which is a shame.

But as a big fans point of view.. I guess I'd rather have it return in style with a proper series

hhmmm, I have to agree with you Paddy, Big Brother is a summer thing definitely and the big return would have to have Big Brother first not the celeb version!

Perphaps airing the first rebooted version against the olympics would be a bad idea? Maybe we need the initial series without much competition so we can establish it's not a flop.

The Olympics is only a couple of weeks long though, and do events still take place at 9/10pm when BB would be on?

CBB, I think if they're gonna make a load of changes, they should do it with the series which has the initial bigger ratings, so that people may stick around to watch the normal version when it comes back

Not the first few days but most indoor sprts can be held later on in stadiums. (I think I cant remember an Olympics thats been on GMT time)

It's not just the slots, it the newspaper coverage too. Papers only have so many column inches they have dedicate.

I doubt many BB viewers even watch The Olympics anyway

I could be wrong but you know, well when was the last Olympics actually? Did it effect Big Brothers' ratings?

Ah right yeah, I know they're held in the evenings but not really sure of the exact time, may well be quite late actually

Most of the papers seemed a bit bored of BB anyway though really, BB11 wasnt really very frequently reported on. If anything it will have more coverage with Desmond owning both the Star & the Express and OK magazine or whatever it is

But yeah Big Brother 9 did alright really in the ratings, 3 Million a night [got more than that but they just don't record it] so I imagine we'll be okay.

And who knows, with Desmond's news papers and magazines reporting on BB12 next summer alongside the Olympics, it may not be as big of a let down [in terms of ratings] as you think, Surely Desmond has the power to have BB on the front page of his papers and magazines whenever he wants, that'll boost the ratings.

This.

BB10 was barely mentioned either, infact BB9 was the last year The Sun and The Daily Star were all over Big Brother, CBB7 did quite well though actually aswell in the press.

Plus if The Sun gets on board and starts reporting on BB [which I'm sure they will] then that's one more paper added onto The Daily Star, OK, Heat etc etc reporting on BB.

That's what I mean like the Olympics are a huge boost for the UK in terms of Economic growth and they wont be off the front pages at all.....you wont be able to escape the media coverage if you try haha.

No I agree, I dont care what way "Celebrities" act, I mean they never had a true Celebrity on it that was right there in the public eye (Alex wasn't a celebrity he was a product of Jordan) who has won... It's okay as a filler in between but it was way over rated in retrospect.

I like CBB. It fills the gap nicely. Especially when there's crap on in Jan.
