New research shows that drinking more than a pint of beer or a glass of wine a day can substantially increase the risk of some cancers.
Why do you drink poison?

if they ban alcohol there will firstly be an uproar. then there would be so much illegal trading it would be stupid because then more drug dealers would have more contacts and convince young people to buy more dangerous drugs.
also mcdonalds/ junk food contributes to heart disease and stuff but you cant ban things because they are bad for someone. its up to the person to decide what they do to themselves. |

If the government tried to ban alcohol, people would make it themselves, this is turn would lead to an increase in blackmarket alcohol. While the government allows alcohol it is taxed, its usage monitored and production standards enforced
While it is cheap and easy to make your own, if you dont follow certain procedures and you attempt to cut corners and costs you could end up with a finished product that can harm your health. All the government will do is publicise the latest information, I dont even think they will amend the most recent safe limit guidelines. |

No,I don't agree with a ban on alcohol at all, I hardly drink very much of it anyway but for the vast majority of people it is pleasure for them and they should not be penalised.
However, I do have one objection and that is for just about every special day of the year and often when not even, alcohol is substantially reduced and in big Stores particularly you cannot escape it on most aisles or even as you walk through the door. I think it should be like cigarettes and only sold in one particular part of the Store, bought seperately as cigarettes have to be. Last edited by joeysteele; 08-04-2011 at 01:39 PM. |

Impossible. It would be like banning pornography in the States or handeld technology in Japan. It's just so popular, even driving it underground would be a struggle. And even if it were, the cost to the economy would be billions and lets just say getting a drink won't be as safe as going to your local weed dealer.

It's quite obvious that alcohol should not be banned and people drink because they feel like doing it, so who cares about what people want to do with their lives.

There's "new research" all the time suggesting something causes cancer - I've lost track of whether red wine is good or bad for you now. So I don't see a reason why it should.

If Weed has been banned - even though smoking and drinking is 10 times more deadly, then Cigs and Alcohol should be aswell.
How crazy does that sound? Banning Booze. It sounds very ridiculous - just like making Weed illegal.

Alcohol is a drug in liquid form. A so called recreational liquid drug. Very much embedded in society throughout the world. Mankind is addicted to the idea of taking recreational drugs let alone the drugs themselves. As such a ban would not be practical.
Mankind has also been imbecilic enough to adopt other so called recreational drug forms......The idiots will never learn...... With regard to alcohol I think a lot more could be done to regulate it to try and prevent youngsters from copying what stupid adults do. Supermarkets and corner shops should be banned from selling it.......Alcohol should only be available from licenced premises at certain times of day. |
