If you have to have a licence to drive a car, why isn't a licence to have children introduced? There are some people in this world who should NEVER have children, and this case highlights why. You only have to look around you to see the products of rubbish parenting. My heart breaks for this toddler - who knows how such trauma will affect him in the future?

It was assault and abuse of a child, pure and simple,
Angus58 is totally correct, its time more was done to protect children and babies in particular. Some people are just not fit to be Parents at all.

That "joke" landed the mother three years in prison. Actually, come to think of it, maybe introducing a license to have children isn't such a bad idea. Mandatory abortion for anybody who fails the test and still gets preggo.

The actual incident isn't funny, but the jokes that are made about it are. It's called dark/'sick' humour. It's the same in all cases. The Maddie McCann case was awful...but the jokes are hilarious. Same applies to the Fritzl case etc. It's got nothing to do with 'how we're wired', we just have a different sense of humour [dare I say a better one].
