Default Is a human life more important than an animals?

Say a Polar Bear, Tiger or Cat?

Put it this way I would save my dog over a stranger

Feel free to quote my post and go on about how my opinions are wrong etc. I don't care

If I had to choose, I'd prefer to see a human die than an animal. Dunno why I think like that but I do.

Really?? I don't like seeing anything die, but seeing a human die would affect me far more

I'd say they are just as important as humans
Like I'd save a friend or family member over some random dog or cat or something
But I'd also save my dog over a random person i dont know

I would be a bit of a hypocrite to say no, since I regularly eat animals.

However, I would much rather see a random human die than my pet. (And I know that sounds harsh :/ )

I guess I'm a hypocrite either way.

Depends what human to me too. And it depends if its the life of one animal or the life of many animals.
Lets just say if a bull fighter or seal hunter or dolphin catcher were in trouble, I dont think i would save them :S

It really does depend on the human - if it were someone like Ian Huntley, I wouldn't even have to think about it

Waaw!! This really shows, the state of humanity for real. At least this demographic, reading this thread. Shocking!
I have had pets, cats mainly throughout my life, but no way in hell, will I save any of them, over my worst enemy, of a human being. I still know the difference between the brain, self awareness, of an animal, and that of a human being!

I am actually quite shocked reading some of the answers, because I honestly didnt think, people were like that, in general. But then again, maybe its just this country, or just the Tibb demographic. Live and learn!

I mean seriously!! The only thing I can think of, is maybe, you feel completely abandoned by society, so much so, that you value your pets life over humans. YOu must not have anyone else other than your pets in your life. IN which case, I could understand. But that would be extremely sad!

You wouldn't save your pet over your worst enemy. Obviously you don't love your pets. The point you are mising is that love or hate decides what we do or don't do. A genuine pet lover loves their anaimal as if part of the family. A stranger is not loved therefore its perfectly understandable to save a beloved pet as opposed to a complete stranger. But then it depends on who the stranger is.......A young women with children hard to let die. A male sorry I would save my pet......

To let a beloved pet die to save a worst enemy sounds completely abnormal......

I think having the death of another human being on your conscience would be harder to deal with than an animal... and I mean any human even your worst enemy.

Abnormal??
LOL! actually in a lot of countries, there is such a thing as, non assistance to person in danger! Where if you let someone die (a human being that is), when you couldve done something about it, you can go to jail. And yes, that includes your worst enemy as well! NO such laws for an animal, and rightfully so!

Seriously, I cant believe i AM even debating this!
I do love my pet. But I know the difference between an animal, and a human being! I can hate someone, but still know that their life is more valuable than that of my pet's. I believe anyone who doesnt understand that, has some psychological issues (just me again).

A stranger, my worst enemy, is still a person, our beloved pet, is an animal, sorry but its not even close to me.
The stranger that I dont like, has a family, parents, friends, and is a member of society, whose life, is just as valuable as mine.

A pet that potentially has a lifespan of 10 or so years, with the brain of an animal, which is basically mainly instincts, is not comparable to that of any human being to me!

There is a reason why you get the death penalty or life in prison for murdering a human being, and its investigated. And there is a reason why no one investigate, a dead animal. THE DIFFERENCE is clear. BUt obviously, some people have detached themselves from humanity, so much so, that they dont understand what it means anymore!
How many years you get for murder of an animal again! LOL!

The fact that this is even a debate, is sad, and horrifying for me!

I'm not talking about some random hedgehog crossing the road but if the choice was to save a much loved pet or the life of a child killer or an evil nutjob like the guy responsible for the Norway killings Anders Breivik, I know my choice and I would sleep well having made it
