Default people being way too harsh on may

She has 44% of the public vote which is the highest since 1983
she has a 57 seat majority over labour and only 8 seats short of an overall majority. The DUP just add the essential 8 , they are right wing so its not the coalition of chaos the likes of bitter ex chancellor george osbourne claims in his poisonous paper.

All this in the middle of the absolute chaos of brexit after everyone else quit from gove to cameron to boris etc ONLY may took on the phenomenal task of facing brexit...she pushed through article 50. another mighty challenge. our media is so hyper criticial yet the task shes had has needed someone almost super human to deal with...imagine dealing with brexit? going through 10000s of laws over 50 odd years entangling 30 nations and over 500 million people? and a party that is killing itself with a civil war over europe

Is it any wonder the electorate is volatile?

At the end of the day she asked for an election as she needed to be voted in legitimately, she hasnt got a clear majority but she has won and she is rightly the prime minister. The economy is doing well since she has taken over too, the markets are booming, growth has exceeded expectations, unemployed has fallen...I suggest give her a bit of respect now and allow her time to try and go into battle with those EU bigwigs. Its time we unite and do battle for britain

She should have walked it though. She threw this away.

The arrogance of calling a vote when she was leading massively in the polls (after saying she wouldnt too...) when an election wasn't needed...at a time where even SHE says Brexit negotiations should have been concentrated on.

Nah youre just repeating parrot fashion some sensationalised headlines....She called it to have her own mandate to deal with the nightmare of brexit... Brown got in the back door, like may, he ducked a general election and it cost him. may showed bottle , shes now prime minster through the front door... I think the election will be good for democracy. But she needs to carry on now and do a job as the legitimately elected prime minister

She specifically called it to increase the conservative Westminster majority as a madate for hard Brexit. That was the entire plan and it backfired spectacularly - not only did she fail to achieve a large majority, she LOST the small majority that she already had . You can't rewrite history now and claim it was called "so that she would be the legitimately elected PM"... that's not why it was called.

Especially when there's a not-too-small chance she will now be REPLACED as PM.

^This and she did it with such arrogance. This is what happens when one starts believing in their own hype. Her ego had her believing that she really was ruling over a one party state. At one point I really did wonder if she was trying to lose this election but nah; she just let the power go to her head and it cost her dearly.

I'm glad she's been dropped back down to earth. It must of been a hell of a bump.

She should have walked it and I just think her manifesto was political suicide, there was nothing that appealed to a lot of voters,I do think the media are being overly harsh, she took a gamble and it failed, I was going to vote for her in the end i didn't vote because of the foxhunting issue, and I wasn't too keen on some of Corbyns proposals,so opted out, but him calling for her to resign annoyed me a bit as he was told by his own party to resign several times,he didn't he plodded on,so why shouldn't TM try and make the best of this. She won more votes than Blair did in a landslide majority

She took the chance, it backfired. She has to accept some criticism.
Considering she offered nothing and even upset some pensioners, she has done well to be able to still form a government against someone who offered the moon on a stick.

I don't think we are being too hard on her. She was a remainer that then started preaching an uncompromising, undebatable brexit. She has such a small circle that she trusts that she didn't have consensus from her cabinet or mp's on her campaign and manifesto. So when she ran into trouble, she had no-one to turn to, to give her support and assistance. She has to take 100% of the responsibility

The DUP are an extremist party endorsed by active paramilitary groups that commit terrorist acts. After the events in Manchester and London, is it appropriate for them to be in coalition with the Conservatives?

What a grand marriage of septic minds.

This is not how it will be played in the press at all though; sad fact is, most people in the UK have no idea who / what the DUP is and will only be finding out about them from current media. They will be portrayed as level headed "strong and stable" supporters of the Union and Brexit.

The fact that they don't give a **** about anything at all other than keeping N.I. vassal-ed to the UK and have had an extremely dodgy history in Irish politics will be thoroughly whitewashed.

This, she's had it easy this election.

Barely any of the media has pulled her up on her vagueness, her refusal to answer certain questions and the fact that she never actually says anything. They've given her an easy ride regarding her u-turns and they've largely ignored the fact that she is basically Trump's bitch and her problematic selling of weapons to the middle east (But hey, let's call Corbyn a traitor for untrue and tenuous stories!).

The media is a joke and she deserves no sympathy because this is a mess of her own making.

Nope. I know better than any how the headlines talk ****.

May takes a little crap for her awful decision and terrible campaign and all of a sudden its toys out of pram.
