I have never got the 'it encourages people to spam!' argument though. Does anyone really do that? Does anyone really care that much? And if they do, spamming is against the rules anyway so just infract and/or ban them? That seems a lot easier that discounting entire subforums which essentially renders the 'post count' pointless

I'm indifferent about the post count because I secretly don't want C+G to be implemented for fear it turns out my actual post count is something like 180,000

But yes to moving the off-topic stuff up the page a bit. Some of the subforums near the top need tidying up anyway, there's a handful of redirect links that look a bit messy. (BB1-16 series; CBB1-16 series, in the top section)

Nobody's shunning your idea, it's not a bad idea at all and I get where you're coming from, but I think people are just saying that if someone cares that much about their post count and/or uses other people's post counts against them, then that's not the fault of the forum but a fault of themselves x

...as a compromise and to acknowledge those who run games and their effort and time...maybe a set amount post count addition could be added to the game host after the game or some kind of award/star/acknowledgement type thing given to them..?...

Because I know fine well that forum games have a tendency to have main threads that're also used as chat threads 70% of the time rather than actual tasks/competitions. And I also know I've been guilty of setting lazy "post count" tasks which really would be considered spam/unnecessary by the forum rules.

Your second idea isn't a bad one considering you always get people wandering into the chat threads saying they had no idea they existed so some kind of banner at the top or something making its existence known at least would be good.

I don't think the other sections are that hard to find, if people genuinely cared about the other sections then they'd post in them but I imagine a lot of people who visit during on-season are those that only really care about the site when the show is on, and there's no changing that.
