I've tried gel, heat products, clipping it messily while wet, backcombing ...

Whatever I do, it unravels and dishevels over the day, and is all neat and straight ...

I want it to be a messy rats' nest!!

I hate my hair to be messy and cant bear anyone to touch my hair in case the muss it up. After washing it i use a good strong bay rum and then a tangle tainer brush to neatly put it into order. Its always short enough to be almost dry after towelling it.

My hair just naturally gets some messiness as the day goes on but idk if I'd say that's a good thing. It kinda annoys me when it gets messy but I cba

get yourself a loose perm, it'll give you curls but they can be easily broken up and made 'messy'

Maybe you're washing it too much. It harder to style freshly washed hair than it is to style hair that was washed yesterday or the day before.

Used VERY SPARINGLY will hold it without affecting the look, but will feel a bit crunchy so not for when you'll have someone pawing your hair. But it's covids time so that's not much of a risk.

You might be onto something there - I generally wash it every other day, or third day at the most, so yeah
