I mean, if Marcello does see cooking to be a feminine interest (rightly or wrongly) and is yet happy to do it anyhow and be open about his love of it surely that's a good thing and shows that he is comfortable with that caring nurturing side of himself?

While the culinary industry is male dominated, with over 80% of fine dining chefs are male, cooking at a home for those you live with it still seen as mainly a female task by many. I know in my friendship circle, the 'job' of feeding the family largely falls on the woman in the relationship.
Marcello was obviously referring to this attitude. Marcello was a chef, he will know how that cooking isn't a female dominated industry, so I don't think his point reflected his views specifically. I really don't think he meant anything else by it. |

He is talking about how cooking is perceived in general by people.
Being into cooking is not perceived as a masculine profession to people that are machismo/display toxic masculinity. Because I'm willing to bet that someone like Andrew Tate would have something to say about men that cook for example. Marcello was right in what he was saying, we don't have to like the truth, but sometimes the truth sucks.

You've described it much better than I have. But I honestly don't get how anyone has misinterpreted what Marcello meant, he made it pretty clear. I get that some people don't like him (which is fair enough) but there's no need to twist what he meant, because he made Dean look like a prick in the argument. ![]()

It's just in 2024, it's not probably stated as openly as what Marcello did in the episode. But we'll see if Andrew Tate starts bragging about making his own Pizza. ![]()

He was a chef. Of course he likes cooking. Dean saying he doesn't like masculine men is ridiculous. When he has praised Marcello many times.

Because I honestly don't believe that Toxic masculine men would even want to learn how to cook.

By people who view cooking as a woman only job, maybe, but normal people don’t care who does the cooking in the home, only ‘alpha male’ incels and pick me’s care

Marcello handled himself brilliantly with the weasel, I think Dean expected Marcello to get angry ,which would have just played straight into his narrative. I'm so glad he stayed calm & relaxed and put the little twat in his place, in the most chilled way. In fact all 3 of them - Sarah, Khaled & Marcello were amazing in last night's show. Sarah didn't cry ,and was incredibly intelligent & open with him. She's so down to earth. Khaled has more maturity in his little finger, than Nathan has all over . Khaled is such a decent guy . He continues to prove he has more growth than a few of them in there , despite him being young. |

Marcello isn't perfect, but he's showing more maturity than weasel Dean.

And imo his comments towards Sarah were even worse, she can't help her voice, and what shoes she chooses to wear has nothing to do with Dean.

And unfortunately there are a growing population of Incels in the country, and just people with old fashioned views about cooking. I do think though that some people do like to jump on anything Marcello says, and I get that he is not the only Housemate receiving that treatment, but obviously the thread is about him so I don't want to list every single Housemate that I feel is getting that treatment this series.
