Default Closure of popular threads

Just a general observation about closure of threads and not about any thread in particular, but given members can be banned from posting in threads, would this not be a better way to go rather than punishing everyone by closing the thread?

When multiple warnings have been given and people ignore it and continue to insult each other, it is sometimes better to just close the thread.

I felt today that I had to request my own thread closed due to deliberate trouble making. I agree with Cherie though. Getting threads closed gives the culprits satisfaction, it's not the best solution. Ban them.

Thanks Annie, but everyone loses out, banning the offending members would seem a better system as it feels like we are all punished for a handful of members who can't help themselves

I must of missed it but yeah I agree with Cherie however it must be hard on the mods having to repeat the same thing over and over, it must be exhausting for them.

Giving out warning is pointless unless they are backed up with bans

The problem is often where there are multiple culprits. This punishment would have to be handed out quite widely which would no doubt cause it's own complaints. There are also some threads which are almost inherently prone to descending into arguments

Generally we do try and preserve a topic and that's why we'll post warnings in threads first and delete posts before closing a thread. That's only really a last resort when a thread seems unsalvageable

Let’s not rewrite history, Kate. Livia was the one who took it off-topic and started talking about members. I replied to the thread, you’re the one who jumped in on MY post to Livia and kicked off the drama. Don’t try to paint it like I’m the issue just because it fits whatever story you’re telling yourself.

And yet again here you are to denigrate and argue. I put a stop to the drama by requesting the thread closed.

Very true.

I got banned the other week for not noticing I had a message in my PMs that was a warning to decease from posting all my old threads with a messgae to delete thread please,as my post.

Now come on, how on earth am I supposed to notice I've been sent a warning PM when I'm concentrating on bumping all my old threads in a huff.

Pointing out what actually happened isn’t “denigrating,” it’s correcting your spin. You’ve clearly got a problem with everything I post, but that doesn’t make it arguing. That’s just you seeing an argument in anything I say. Maybe take a step back and realise not everything revolves around your drama.

All I saw is that I was quoted twice and then it was deleted because for me it was very early morning, so I'm still confused lol. I expect immediate bans as compensation...

No. You don't listen. I caused no drama. I asked Annie to close it to stop it all. Everybody is sick of the same people causing crap constantly. I'm not apologising for answering back bitchy comments.

Stop continung this and then moaning when threads get closed. Ive tried to be fair and closed the thread because to be honest i would have had to have banned most contributors.

You jumped in on a reply I made to Livia who was talking **** about another member. Nothing to do with you.

You caused drama that had your thread closed. That you requested. Which for some reason I’m to blame for.

Yes you would Annie, have to have banned a few. What's wrong with that. Nothing else is working. They take no bloody notice.

And let's be honest any thread asking you to pick forum members for something is pretty much a banker for starting arguments
