Not really the lead news, only if their is nothing more bigger than that. It will always be big news what ever the case.

No death ****ing goes unoticed if you have family and friends that care about you, of course they notice.

So when we all die then we should all have our deaths heared on the news incase anyone cares?

Well I dont care about half the deaths I see on the news tbh its the same old same old now.
Again you miss the point entirely....I don't know if I can be bothered any more since you're abviously too far gone to make sense of anything....

I dont agree with the war but I respect that these people are putting their lives on the line for others, when people die for their country they deserve to be known and recognised as a hero from it's citizens although sadly no one should become known as a hero like that

If you die on the way to the shops it's only going to be on the news if it was a murder since an accident or health problems aren't really news. If I died tommorow it wouldn't be news because I've not done anything important yet. Finally comparing going to the shops with War is stupid and only solidifies my argument that you're a repulsive little **** who doesn't know his arse from his elbow. It's disgusting how ignorant you actually are about everything.

Well, probably the Girls Aloud story as it's the Sun and as editor it's my job to run stories that interest my readers!

People who die in car accidents are not fighting on behalf of our country........Out of respect for their courage we should have them on front line news..........Anything less would be a betrayal of our fighting forces......

I don't think it needs to be lead news all the time, only because I think we should have a more positive outlook on news.

Don't shoot me down for saying that..

No that's a fair point, the only reason I'm jumping on Patrick is basically because he's saying that soldier's dying isn't a big deal. It probably shouldn't always be lead news but I think it should always be reported nonetheless.

As for The Sun question you could have both. If I remember right The Sun usually has a big showbiz story on the top half of the front page and more serious news on the bottom half.

Why not a few front pages about the thousands upon thousands of civilians who have been killed too then? Fair is fair.

Best to ignore them mate, they dont have that many close relatives, family or friends living here.

Notice in the Guardian article it discounts the 2006 Lancet's 600,000+ and also corrects the under reporting by such groups as IBC

If thats the case then they might as well axe the news and just show it when something significant happens which would generally be politics. Kids get kidnapped all the time, people are always getting murdered, the weather regularly goes from one extreme to another etc yet they're almost always leading stories on the news.

Because they're not British and weren't killed by putting themselves out there in an attempt to do good. That doesn't have the same effect as it does when its British people, and if it has a high impact then more will watch. ITV and Sky are ratings chasers so they need stories with public interest.

Journalists are supposed to report the news in an objective fashion, showing both sides of the story. Feeding the public what they want to hear is obscuring the truth in a way but I suppose that's the world we live in right now. Shame.

Its the only way the news on commercial channels is sustainable, but the BBC does tend to be objective, as does Channel 4 where they take quality over ratings. The latest ITV News campaign says it all, they bang on about how important the people involved in the stories are and Sky News is desperate to be like Fox which is just a televised version of The Daily Mail.

Is this actually true? I doubt it.

UK Government never admit we are at war...........otherwise have to declare war on a country under international laws..........it is a 'military action' to protect the local population..........the Americans invented this idea in Vietnam and has been used to circumvent international/UN laws ever since. Deaths are bread and butter because of Sky News/BBC 24/CNN.............they've too many corespondents who would be idle if another british soldier doesn't get shot. The unfortunate truth

Sky News/BBC 24/CNN - not to mention Sky 1's Ross Kemp and camera team bugging the soldiers' tits off every time they go out!!!!!!!!
