So I'm about to do a mental breakdown a la Patrick as he does them so well but seriously, do the shows need to be so damn dramatic like, are you being serious ?
First, the dramatic voice all over the place. Then the judges' entrance with fireworks and everything like they were rock stars or music icons (we would have been aware if they were). And then the results: right, so this is the big part, could it be more cheesy, more melodramatic sissy fake ass crying ? I mean, we still have that big dramatic music for the entrance of the contestants, again, they ain't no rock stars so calm it down (and I'm pretty sure no rock stars would want this music to welcome them on a stage) Then, we've got the cringiest part of them all...the contestants' reactions. Seriously, why the need to jump all over the place, crying like 4 y-o and jumping in each other arms as if England won the World Cup (lmao never gonna happen anytime soon anyway). Please, show some dignity to yourself and to your family because sweetheart, once you're voted out, you'll go back to nowhere (oh wait, Leon and Joe proved that you might win AND go back to nowhere) so take a chill pill and relax. Bottom 2 announced, more drama, more dramatic music, more tears and tears and tears. Oh and more pity from the judges like they spend half an hour to decide like it's the biggest decision of their lives. Just give a name and that's it, we know who the front-runners are anyway so whether it's Belle Amie or Katie, none of them will win. But I've got to say, last night killed me. That Deadlock thing is an epic failure like the BIG BIG music, red light all over the place which probably meant the end of the world, a premature 2012 thing going on, something bad is about to happen, Ben Laden is back on the track: to be clear, some crazy shit is about to go down. And finally, another """"singer"""" (mind the ") is out which obviously means more tears, drama attitude or even sometimes bitterness (my favourite). Wooo, too much drama for me too handle. It's sad because this show has a lot of potential but all this fake ass act around it ruins it. Keep it simple, scrap the big meaningless music (meaningless in this context), tell the contestants to shut the hell up and to behave like decent human beings. I know it's their passion but please, Reality-TV has been on TV for a decade, they should know how ridiculous they look on TV. There you go, I've been wanting to write this for such a long time. Enjoy. Haters to the left. Candies for the rest. *puts on dramatic X Factor music*

Yes, they really do go over-the-top with the drama, hype and epic apocalyptic lights and thunder heh. You would half-expect crowds to burst through the walls yelling 'THE MESSIAH HAS RETURNED... THE MESSIAH!!!!'. But last night was especially difficult because we do sort of understand that neither of these were staying. We know that. They know that. There is no loss outside the inevitable. OK. So this is actually the perfect time TO make a phony 'deadlock' and juice up the drama. But oh my.. ya they overdo it all. I COULD see something if it came to Matt and Mary or something in the final but over Belleamie and Waisell... okay calm dooon everyone. |

I didn't tune in till bout 8.50pm last night because I find the Sunday show is getting dreary and all I'm really interested in is who is going. (although even then it was drama filled with Katie's tears and the deadlock) They don't even have mentors atm who perform on Sundays, which I used to enjoy. Simon Cowell used to be all about 'this is a singing contest' - but I think your right its becoming a drama with a bit of singing thrown in - I guess some probably like that but irritating if you dont.
Candies for me please |

I've been rewatching episodes of X Factor 2005 and such and I must say it's a piss take compared to nowadays.
The lights are cut down to nothing really, the judges are straight talking, none of this 'spend 4 minutes deciding' bollocks and the music is very very rarely played and the voice over guy isn't there. If you put that beside X Factor 2010 you see why the current one is better. It's alot more exciting. Although I do agree, the way some of them [The blonde bastard from One Erection] act when they get through makes me want to shoot myself in the dick. Quote:

The whole dramatics of it doesn't really bother me tbh I find the show entertaining so if they want to do their fireworks bit fair enough. The crying and stuff does really annoy me though, especially Katie last night.

![]() It's a shame because this year's cast is quite good actually, some promising talents (and no "world class" bullshit, it's way too early, it gives them false hope for nothing) but Jesus, calm it down on the drama. When I have my cringe moments watching it, I think "yeah they may do it for the chavs out there who may feel like stars watching fireworks and stuff".

The crying is redonkulous, I'd be so uncomfortable if I was Katie's parents or even Katie herself watching that back. It's like looking at photos on Facebook from a big drunk night the morning after and you are so ashamed of yourself.

![]() I understand what you're saying about the judges and I agree but it just doesn't annoy me that much, I usually take that time when they're introducing the judges to decide who won the style war that week between Dannii and Cheryl ![]()

X Factor wouldn't work if it wasn't dramatic. Outside of sport, X Factor is one of the biggest shows in history because of the way it works. Negativity sells, positivity doesn't.

I like the concept of the show and the nice singing moments we can get from this but come on, enough is enough. It's getting worse and worse every year.

Like you said, it's the biggest show on TV in Britain, if I didn't know British people and its culture as much as I do, I would think you're all demented crazy bitches but you're not. I mean, seriously, from outside, it makes people look like crap. I'm not saying they should change the format, not at all because I like it that way but please, calm it down on the epic scenes and useless tears.

I find it quite funny, I'd be devastated is they got rid of the OTT stuff (THE EPIC VOICE OVER MAN IS LOVE). It makes it entertaining and shows they don't take themselves seriously.

Well these problems would be easier to fix if they didn't exclude contestants (and judges for that matter) that didn't obtain a diagnosis for Histrionic Personality Disorder.
