Default Does pizza hut use cow or buffalo mozarella cheese?

I was at tesco today and some random guy approached me while I was picking up some mozarella and he was like that's made from buffalo you know, chuckle chuckle, then he picked up cheddar smiled and walked away. I was like waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aa is this guy just having a laff. So I looked online and it's true moza is buffalo milk (YUK) It's always best to not know the ingredients of things that taste so good.

So does anybody know what cheese they use? If it's buffalo moza i'll have to say buh bye pizza hut.

So you think they use cow mozza in pizza hut?

As I googled some people claim they also add silicone to the cheese. :|

Can'r answer for Pizza Hut obviously but usually in the foodservice industry low moisture mozarrella made from whole or semi skimmed milk is used as a norm.

Mozarella di buffalo is clearly the one used from water buffalo's and Fior di latte is made from unpasteurised Cows milk.

Hope that may help.

^^Thanks for the reply. Your first answer brings some comfort, but enough. I don't trust the food industries lol. They would probably go for the latter.

I can't not worry. I'm really fussy about meat, and things that come from animals in general. I don't like duck, lamb, only beef or pork if it's well done, preferably fried first not just done as some pot dish. I havent drunk milk since I was 11. No milk in tea, always lemon, and/or sugar. if I must have some cereal, soya milk. I can only tolerate stuff with milk if I can't taste it. Cheese, lard, butter, margarine and eggs disgust me quite a bit to be honest with you but I tolerate them. It coming from buffalo is just a step too far!!

People tell me to just be a vegeterian but i'm too lazy to research the right way to go into that lifestyle. And besides i'm not meats biggest fan but I still need some.

Dammit I wish we could have some definite answer.

Just ring Pizza hut and ask what type of mozarella they use on their pizza's,you have a right to know and if they say the low moisture one you know that it's milk from cows involved.

There's nothing wrong in asking them, you may have been someone with some allergy to buffalo milk, people do have with goat's milk so it's well in order to ask them directly.
You could even just ask that it is low moisture cow's milk they use in their pizza's isn't it, then get their response. Your worries are then over.

Ever think of pulling your finger out and finding out yourself.

Google Pizza hut, go to their website and see if there is any mention of what mozzarella they use, if it doesnt say, look for a link on one of their pages that says something like "contact us".

This is so faddy consumers can ask questions, they have people on standby waiting with a big list of stupid answers for stupid questions

Click on it and ask them.

Will give you a clue if you go onto the PH co uk site and look for menus- deals then click on one of the links for dietary information you will find links for recipes toppings ingredients and other nutritional info etc and can download PDFs with lots and lots of info

^That sounds like a good idea, joeysteele. I'll give them a call. Hopefully I'll get an answer.

You're right but I guess it's about how you grow up and what's natural to you. You grow up knowing that cow milk is the most common, and normal. I try my best not to think about where stuff come from when I am eating them.

Looked on their websites already. No mention of what type mozarella cheese they use.
I will contact them but most of the times when I have an inquiry about products I hardly get a straight answer. Some companies keep their ingredients secret for a reason. Like Burger king adding all sorts of crap from the animal to make their burgers Once I crunched on something really strange in the big whopper. dread to think what it was. shame they taste so good.

They have to advise you if their products contain something you have an allergy or may have an allergy to, they don't have to tell how much is in or the format of making it but if you were someone who had an allergic reaction to buffalo milk then you are fully entitled to ask if their product has it in.

Had someone asked and they didn't say then they had an allergic reaction to it, they would be in big bother.

Oh really? I can't see it. I only see ingredients: Mozarella with added starch, (milk, salt, cultures) potato starch.

If you could post what you found please?

They only clearly state it's cows milk for pearl cheese available at restaurants, the others simply state milk.

Pasteurised Cows Milk, Salt, Microbial Rennet; Acidity Regulator: Citric Acid, Potato Starch

When it says milk, its accepted that it will in fact be cows milk, other types of milk have to be identified to the consumer by law.

Yeah like they would use Buffalo milk for it and not announce it,

Mozzarrella di bufaloa is more expensive because buffalo milk is expensive, its not a cheap alternative to pasteurised milk. If they used Mozzarella di Bufala believe me they would let you know, it would be labelled as the finest, most expensive, best available etc.

Its not silicone its Polymethylsiloxane its an anti foaming agent (Antifoam FG 10)used in the United States approved by the FDA. they dont use it in their UK foodstuffs. See a little bit of knowledge can be harmful
