Mixed feelings about this to be honest , don't think the soldiers should have been charged with murder I mean ffs they are fighting a bloody war against these people, this wounded Taliban man would have no hesitation if the tables were reversed in killing beheading and dismembering this soldier in a heartbeat.

So why are we coming over all bleeding shocked at this soldiers actions. He has probably seen his best friends blown to pieces in front of him he is probably in a constant state of PTSD his mental state is questionable , I agree he should not have shot the man BUT under the circumstances to call it murder on par with a civilian murder charge is plain nonsense.

This Soldier has made a mistake induced by the Fog of war, I'm sure it happens a lot but this incident was recorded and reported.

I hope this man is discharged from the Army and given the psychiatric treatment he needs and if he is jailed over this incident I hope it is no more than a few years at most.

Let's stop pandering to the bleeding hearts brigade ....!!!!

..did you listen to the recording from the DM article as well, Nedusa..?..my initial thoughts were quite similar to yours and what these men endure every day, how could that not cause 'the fog of war'....but after listening to only that 6 minutes of it, this was a 'matter of fact' cold act of murder and nothing remotely to do with the stresses of wartime...for me, your thoughts are extremely valid of many service men in that situation but I just don't think it applies to this incident.... as in any walk of life there are just 'bad people'....my surprise is that the other two had no repercussions at all, not of the actual murder but for beating/kicking him as he lay there before hand because there seemed nothing 'emotional' in their actions at all....just thugs/nobs who were unfortunately wearing uniforms and carrying weapons....

I am not of the 'bleeding hearts brigade' myself but I do think in this situation the soldier was wrong,ok they probably would have done the same to him,but we don't know that for sure,they are not all bad ,and two wrongs don't make a right,the man was already injured if they felt such hate,they should have just passed him by,or not made an issue of it,this soldier made it almost a 'game' not sure that's the right word but you know what I mean,it seemed to be in cold blood,so if that had been a 13 year old kid(who do fight) it would have been ok aswell? The soldier should get help and 'life' is a bit harsh I agree.

Incidents this like only serve to make the situation worse... the family, friends and allies of this murdered man are only going to want soldiers out of their country even more and will feel no remorse in murdering soldiers in an eye for an eye move... the soldiers involved in this death ought to be ashamed of themselves. They are not serving their country. They're murderers.
