[Couple bought dream home for more
than £1million without realising a public bridleway ran through it 'because of decades-long council map blunder'] ![]() ![]() [Mr Moore and his wife have closed a gate and put up signs warning people not to come in. Locals say garden waste has been piled up against the fence to act as an added barrier] The Problem is some locals can move that pile and start walking through. You are Buying an Expensive home Someone failed to find out the truth ![]() An old map from 1924. ![]() A former resident: [I used it to go to my grandparents' house because an alternative route was 'too dangerous',' he told the planning inspector. Locals giving evidence to the inquiry included Anthony Barrett, who has acted as an advocate for residents on the issue. He said he had used the route since 1999 and the 'incorrect map' was obviously wrong because 'the line on the definitive map goes straight through the middle of a house'. He added: 'It would be absurd to argue that it is in the correct place. It is an impossibility.' Mr Moore told the hearing the county council admitted in 2020 that bridleway signs by his home were wrong and they were removed. The legal dispute began in December that year when Mr Morris demanded access. In a sworn statement, he said: 'When I purchased the property, I was not made aware of the existence of a bridleway crossing the property.' The planning inquiry was adjourned for a site visit to take place early next month.] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...bridleway.html |
