M5 shut as 'several people' die in 27-vehicle crash

"Several" people were killed and up to 35 hurt in a 27-vehicle crash on the M5 near Bridgwater, Somerset, police say.

Police said they were still trying to free people after the crash, which happened between junctions 23 and 26, at about 20:30 GMT on Friday.

Emergency crews said the cause was not clear, but there had been reports of heavy rain and fog in the area.

Terrible, not often an accident as bad as this happens
