An Apple store in Melbourne has been accused of racial profiling after a staff member asked a group of black teenagers to leave the premises because employees were worried the students would "steal something." In a video filmed by one of the boys involved, an Apple employee can be heard telling the teens "these guys are just a bit worried about your presence in our store". He said: "They're just worried you might steal something," to which one of the teenagers responds "Whoa, why would we steal something?" 15-year-old Ese, told Mashable: "It was just really offensive when he said 'we are afraid you are going to steal something. It was shocking; it was racism. "He didn’t even give us a chance." Following the incident, the boys who are reportedly between the ages of 15 and 16, went back to the store with their school principal to demand an apology, which they got. However, it has done nothing to quell the accusations of racial profiling made against Apple. http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews...BmUFgZ#image=2 |
