According to the Daily Star, the 64-year-old's appearance on the ITV series caused members of the audience to walk out mid interview as he discussed his stage act from yesteryear, a West Indian character called Chalky. Discussing Jim's infamous character, presenter Piers commented that his act would be deemed racist if performed today. However the remark did little to deter the comedian from discussing the character which reportedly caused six members of the audience to stand up and leave the studio. He said: 'Have you noticed black guys now don't like that? West Indian. I don't know where that accent comes from. That. I find funny. The way other people talk. I don't know what black people think. I have not met them all yet. Adding: 'When I did that Chalky stuff it was about an accent. The only reason he was black was because I could do the accent.' ![]() http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...s-walkout.html |
