Having untied shoe laces is annoying and uncomfortable, not wearing a mask is comfortable and more social/nice

Except you weren’t though were you, you were just being contrary for the sake of it. And no the comparison was fine, clearly it just went over your head

Well I'll wear one where it's mandatory but given that

- We've all been told until recently that they are not necessary and possibly not effective

- The majority of the country don't wear one and the last time this poll was done hardly anyone said they wore one

- Other measures - namely distancing and good hygiene - are much more important and are things I have always tried to do

I don't think it's that outrageous that some people aren't in the habit of wearing them yet and it doesn't just mean that they're 'idiots' or 'pussies'

Not when I'm outside.
Only when I'm in a shop or public transport.

Correct, and that was during peak ..I can’t find the thread though

I just hope people don’t become complacent about distancing and think that wearing a masks negates them from the need to distance

...in fairness though...the last time a poll was done and it being that hardly anyone wore one etc...would also factor in when that poll was done...as in, if it was a quarantined time for instance...because many people shopped online and rarely left their homes so a mask wouldn’t have been a consideration...it’s only in the last few weeks that the country is opening up again...

...and this government has been so inconsistent and ‘selective’ in its advice...masks are not effective or necessary because the ones that may have any effectiveness are required by the NHS obviously...so no to masks.../...we want industry to get back and social distance will be impossible in many areas if that happens, so please wear a mask and then proximity can be ignored...

...but yeah, I agree on the whole with what you say...people aren’t ignorant, they’re just confused and confusion leads to fear and anxieties as well...

Yeah but most of us were still going out to the shops every now and then and infection rates were far higher a couple of months ago than they are now, it's just clear that both public opinion and scientific opinion has shifted massively since that time although even now mask wearers are still a minority in this country. It should never be the case that proximity can be ignored tbh, social distancing should still be being maintained in all shops

We're not alone in this confusion tbf, it was only very recently that the WHO changed their advice after saying all through the pandemic that you should only wear a mask if you're unwell or caring for someone. France are also quite recent converts to masks after not recommending it for months, hardly anyone wears one still in Australia and Scandinavia and its caused a big debate in the US as well

...when I was running the other day, I saw someone having a driving lesson...instructor and learner both in a small confined space with no windows open and both wearing a mask...it freaked me a little but it’s also the kind of ‘industry’ that can’t socially distance, it’s impossible so that’s would I mean by ‘enabling proximity to be ignored’...etc...

...the shopping and venturing out more than say a month/two months etc ago..?..obviously there is an increase in shoppers there because non essentials weren’t open then but are now...an increase and change in shops being open would (..for me..)...mean an increase and change in mask wearing .../...things don’t remain static so are inaccurate to compare....

To be fair, lockdown hasn't ended. Restrictions have been eased but we are still restricted. I know many people who haven't their houses yet for a variety of reasons.

I would say lockdown has ended but there are still a lot of restrictions in place to prevent the spread. And Yes like you said people are staying at home for a variety of reasons, some may be shielding, that is why I was assuming some people may need a fourth option to be added to the poll, and why some forum members hadn’t voted yet were contributing

No, quite clearly that was @ the tying laces comparison, but keep trying to take things out of context for your own satisfaction
