To be fair Parmy many of the people fleeing those countries and seeking refuge ARE the gay communities of those countries, as they're at serious risk of persecution (or injury, or death). There are sadly places in the world where the violence against the LGBT community is still primarily literal violence, rather than mean tweets.

One just has to hope they leave behind their homophobic and misogynistic cultures...
