Confused the Tories are doing so badly, I thought they'd fixed the election by asking voters to show ID

Sir Ed Davey tells Rishi Sunak: 'Time is up'
Sir Ed Davey, the leader of the Liberal Democrats, has declared "time is up" for
Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

Speaking at a rally in Windsor this morning, Sir Ed said: "Voters across the
country have sent a clear message in these local elections, a message so loud
that even someone as out of touch as Rishi Sunak can’t ignore it.

"People are fed up with waiting hours for an ambulance, waiting in vain for the
police to show up after a break-in, or for real action to bring down soaring
energy bills and food prices.

"Conservative MPs are out of touch, out of ideas and out of excuses, and the
British people are fed up with waiting for a chance to kick them out of office.
Time is up for Rishi Sunak and his appalling Conservative Government."

Hmm, it's almost like people were stereotyping when they said that people who don;t vote Tory are more likely not to have any ID...

Starmer has done admirably in dealing with the findings and instructions from the Equalities commission inquiry.
It's one thing he's actually doing right.
Even that commission has praised his action on it.
Even to now signing off on its investigation.

People can deny that all they like and ignore the faults of the Cons.all they wish.

Antisemitism is NOT deep-rooted in the Labour Party.
The Equalities commission even stated that.
I as a Labour member and someone who abhors antisemitism would not stay in the party if it was deep-rooted.

It's amazing how those who hate Labour and call us in Labour as scum.
( Not that I'm bothered on that, as scum is the bad, waste or worst rising to the top, so we've learned that from the present Cons.)
That they seem to know more about the Labour party from their own prejudice against Labour..
Than we do and indeed the totally independent Equalities commission.

Obviously there's no reasoning with that personalised and general prejudice .
I'll stand with anything that the Equalities commision says.
As I was over the moon when they said they were going to fully investigate Labour to find the truth out.

I'd like now to see them do a similar one on the Cons on other unsavoury matters of prejudice they possibly have.

The thing is that it probably IS true (though not to the extent some might have claimed) and that suggests the true sentiment is even more disastrous for the Tories than the current panning they're getting would suggest.

I'm STILL not convinced we'll shake them off at the next GE though ... they'll have tricks up their sleeve to roll out for that.

Though Labour will likely be helped somewhat with Scottish votes now that the SNP have ****ing imploded .

Weelllllll, you need photo ID to claim benefits, so that must be why so many people were still about to vote non-Tory.
(Hey, others are stereotyping, so why can't i?)

I think I read somewhere (or even worked out myself, can't remember!) that even if every Opposition party formed together, the Tories would still outnumber them. Even with the SNP kamakazeing, it's a massive hill to climb. Would need a bigger turnaround than Blair managed.

I think the probable outcome will be a squeak-through for the Tories, with a victory for Labour in the following one.

Especially if people are still whining about a party who's not in power shifting the theoretical things they might do if they were, on either side of a pandemic and getting involved in a war.
(Wahhhh, and Bregthit!!!)

“This is exactly how Nazi Germany started.”

No it was far more than just an ID

that 1938 Germany pushed Forward.

As the World let Hitler

take over Poland, Austria and France
as well as other nations
by 1940 he was loving his trip in Romantic France
To sign the Take over in that
Symbolic Train Carriage.

Poor France
so weak,

[To many Germans – Adolf Hitler included – the signing
of the armistice in the forest of Compiègne was
the ultimate betrayal and a national humiliation.
To the French, it was one of their greatest
moments of triumph.]

I think it was the overthrow of the German monarchy and the introduction of the Weimar republic that kicked it off.

Starmer would love to get rid of the monarcy and then what would happen - we would have the rize of the Nazi party in Britain!

He must be thwarted

It's fully linked to NI number and contributions and has to be paid into a verified UK bank account in the claimants name, so not really ... a photo ID would be much easier to fake... I suspect anyone capable of that level of fraud/identity theft is after a little bit more than Universal Credit .
