The thing is though, Ammi, those words are ambiguous enough to enable producers to manipulate them as they wish. For instance, they could say that ‘isolated from the outside world’ actually means that housemates can have no contact with family, friends, their work and their normal, everyday lives. They could claim it means physically isolated. They could say that it’s like a prison which isolates inmates from the outside world, yet they still have some awareness of what is going on.

…yeah for sure, I understand that, Garfie….and we all have our own interpretations of these things that it doesn’t necessarily indicate an ‘all or nothing’ type thing…I guess though for me, it’s …(…and always has been…)…a house dynamics of total strangers who may have nothing in common and never intertwine in the outside world and how connections build…(…and conflicts as well….)…and then the tasks all adding to those things, like coping with crying babies for instance…it’s not about messing with their heads in terms of fear factor adding …with social media platforms especially, they’ll face that soon enough…but manipulating it into the house also is just not great I personally don’t think….and in the past has possibly contributed and factored into ‘walkers’ being more a thing in some seasons…

Maybe not another reality show, but footballers have to tolerate 90 mins a week of boos and the most horrendous and foul of chants imaginable, which make the response of the BB crowd seem pretty mild.

I have to come back to the fact that housemates know when they put themselves in the BB house, that there is every possibility that they could be unpopular and be on the receiving end of boos and negative comments. They know today’s world, so make an informed choice. If they’re not prepared to accept that possibility, they should not sign up for BB. If they choose to go ahead, then part of me feels that they have to tolerate and accept these things.

Yes, you’ve interpreted the words in their purest form, but producers will interpret or manipulate them to generate the most entertainment and viewing figures.

…well, it’s been devised so that they have to hear and experience the boos while their stay in the house is ongoing as well …BB did look at it, I think ….in that there was talk of a ‘no boo/chant’ crowd but I could never see how that could be possible…anyway, it is what it is and isn’t going to change…so…

Yes, I agree, but I do think they would have probably used an alternative entrance to the diary room had it been a housemate who would have had difficulty with the tunnel entrance.
