there are several levels of interpretation .... Spanish to Italian and then Italian to english .... all of that leads to misinterpretation .

The guy comes from a different generation, he is allowed to speak whats on his mind due to his position, where others of a similar age wouldn't get the opportunity. People can't help thinking what they think and as we get older stuff slips out that we would perhaps phrase better given an opportunity.

All that being said, it highlights what people really think, and i would rather know that than not and have it all hushed up. We at least now know what the leadership of the catholic church are thinking
