Poppies have just become a way of showing off how self righteous a person is these days, It's less about showing respect towards soldiers and more about showing off how much you 'care' to everyone else as well as giving these people a sense of superiority. It's just very disengenuine to me now. People just wear them to look good and that's ruined the spirit of them for me.
I make a donation every year but I don't wear poppies, I pay my respects in my own way that's not dominated by a need to show off.
