I find Dexter entertaining, but I just can't 'buy' him as hetero. He seems a bit too femmy and camp. I can see him admiring the brand of jeans that Charlie wears rather than her legs and bum.

And for the record I don't actually dislike Dexter, I have never met him I have no right to have an opinion like that. Last edited by Kyle; 21-07-2013 at 12:05 PM. |

I really dislike speculating on housemates/celebs sexuality based on their behavior. I would rather take their word for it. As there is no definitive behavior for a gay person anyway, and to say 'oh hes gay as he wears pink socks' or something is very stereotypical. |

Still don't get you at all. The only people in here so far that have said Dexter is gay are people who dislike him (as far as I know). Dan and the twin actually being gay has no bearing at all on what my point was.

As for 'noone would guess'..why would people guess in the first place? I really dont see why it matters, in the slightest. Besides 'pandering into seperating gays from straights' Last edited by Vicky.; 21-07-2013 at 12:11 PM. |

I think that stereotypical views are just a lazy way for people to categorise and label others into neat little boxes. We are all more than just one "stereotype", our background, nationality, age, gender, sexuality, class, economic situation, etc surely would involve a lot of conflicting "stereotypes"

Jack and Joe are twins, both pretty camp but it's obvious that Jack is camper and therefore more likely to be the gay one. I know Daley acted horrendously but take away SH-gate, it would have been a stereotype breaker if he had been gay. Alas, it's Dan (and Jack) who likes Britney Spears and claps his hand rapidly like a seal when excited (straight bloke just would never do this). There are some behaviours that are give aways as a straight bloke would never get a shag if he did this. Even the way Dan dances just screams gay. Lesbians are a bit harder to spot but as soon as Wolfy cropped up on screen on VT and opened her mouth everyone in room screamed 'lesbian'. May not be PC but when ever I see the gay guys parading down through gay pride wearing chaps with their pimply arses hanging out there's no way in the world I am thinking 'oh these blokes are soo straight'. Lets be realistic. Last edited by alex_front2; 21-07-2013 at 12:15 PM. |

But surely if someone used it as insult they would have a derogatory view of homosexuality?

It's easy to assume that way though. I am not for one minute saying you meant it like that but for example when you said people who dislike Dexter are the ones saying he is gay then you were meaning people including me (which is fine I can understand why you think that after I posted a topic about how less people support him
![]() Now if you thought that I meant it as insult then I would think that you thought I had a problem with homosexuality which I don't. Sorry if we got our wires crossed. |

I think you're reading far too much into this Vicky. My "interest", though that in itself I fear is an exaggeration, into Dexter's sexuality is rooted in this new-found "love" for Charlie in order to get a storyline. Sexuality is key if this story is to be believed, and I also recall Dexter's tales, though likely equally bull****-based, of being a highly paid male escort.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I kind of find it hard to imagine any gay man as a giver for some reason. I watched C4's Dinner Dates (real life first dates instead of BB) and there were 2 really camp gay guys. I just didn't know which one would have been the giver. Both with plucked eye brows, wavey hands and diva attitudes. I do like Dexter as a HM but he talks about women in a text book way. Can't imagine he actually has bonked a woman. He seems kind of asexual which is usual a sign that a guy is not venturing into lady land. Last edited by alex_front2; 21-07-2013 at 12:22 PM. |

You will certainly have missed the vast majority of Gay people who are anonymous in society, simply because they are not marked out as a GAY but as an everyday sort of person. I am a Gay man, there is no such thing as Gaydar, I can only make ill informed assessments based on a stanger's behaviour, in which I am either right or wrong in classing a "straight" man as gay or a gay man as "straight. In the end I would prefer to feel that I can categorise someone else, based on a good knowledge of who they are, not what the appear to be.
