Dexter is very camp (as all gay men seem to be, even the ones who bang on about being straight acting a la Gareth Thomas eventually struggle to keep up the act and relax into their true camp selves from what I see) and in touch with his feminine side (enjoying flamboyant swanky designer clothing, hanging out with girls, disliking blokey bloke stuff etc).
It may surprise you to learn that many Gay men neither want to act "straight" or "camp", they just want to act what they are........male.

Indeed.

I really dislike speculating on housemates/celebs sexuality based on their behavior. I would rather take their word for it. As there is no definitive behavior for a gay person anyway, and to say 'oh hes gay as he wears pink socks' or something is very stereotypical.

But discussing them is part of BB and that includes sexuality. Yes, it does pander into separating gays from straights, but the fact is gay men are seen as different to straight men. As gays get more visible eg gay rights people will discuss them. If gay men don't want to be discussed then don't come out and act like Liam Gallagher and 50 Cent and no one will guess!

They shouldnt be seen as different to straight men though. I know straight men who are extremely camp, and I know (a large number of) gay men who arent camp at all and are very 'manly'. You wouldnt know they were gay if they didnt tell you.

As for 'noone would guess'..why would people guess in the first place? I really dont see why it matters, in the slightest. Besides 'pandering into seperating gays from straights'

50 Cent has to be gay. Always showing off his well-developed, oiled torso like that. That kind of behaviour screams gayness.

Stereotypical but often based on reality.

Jack and Joe are twins, both pretty camp but it's obvious that Jack is camper and therefore more likely to be the gay one.

I know Daley acted horrendously but take away SH-gate, it would have been a stereotype breaker if he had been gay. Alas, it's Dan (and Jack) who likes Britney Spears and claps his hand rapidly like a seal when excited (straight bloke just would never do this). There are some behaviours that are give aways as a straight bloke would never get a shag if he did this. Even the way Dan dances just screams gay.

Lesbians are a bit harder to spot but as soon as Wolfy cropped up on screen on VT and opened her mouth everyone in room screamed 'lesbian'. May not be PC but when ever I see the gay guys parading down through gay pride wearing chaps with their pimply arses hanging out there's no way in the world I am thinking 'oh these blokes are soo straight'. Lets be realistic.

Do you really beleieve that all the Gays meet up in London and have a big GAYFEST? Yes there are people dressed as you described marching along, perhaps you also missed the many more who are dressed more appropriately.

You will certainly have missed the vast majority of Gay people who are anonymous in society, simply because they are not marked out as a GAY but as an everyday sort of person.

I am a Gay man, there is no such thing as Gaydar, I can only make ill informed assessments based on a stanger's behaviour, in which I am either right or wrong in classing a "straight" man as gay or a gay man as "straight.

In the end I would prefer to feel that I can categorise someone else, based on a good knowledge of who they are, not what the appear to be.

I am sorry but for me I can often tell. Even gay guys who are not screamers. Knew nothing about Gareth Thomas and thought he was gay, bingo he was (and he hasn't stopped droning on about being gay since).

Dan says no one could tell he was gay when he joined the Force. Eh? Dan is camp, granted he's not Alan Carr levels of camp but the fact that he managed to dupe women into sleeping with him beggers believe. These women must have been really sheltered or in denial

The women who insisted that Clay Aitkin or whatever his name is just seemed really silly. Oh c'mon. How did people ever think George Michael was straight? Are folks blind. Women who marry gay men with out realising, seriously?? seriously? Have these women met their husbands There's a gay guy I used to work with who is gay, everyone knows it despite the fact he pretends he's straight. None of us out him or tell him as loads of gays like to think they can fool straights with their straight acting and take pride in the 'no one can tell I am gay' bless. It seems cruel to tell them We know, we know. No biggie.

I don't get why so many gay men get annoyed that women can increasingly tell when men are gay. It's 2013. Seriously doubt a Liberace would be able to fool women and sue a paper for claiming he was gay...and win. I spotted Frank Ocean as gay long long before he came out, even though everyone said there's no way pseudo-homophobe and Frank's group collaborator Tyler the Creator would work with a gay bloke in Future

I'm pleased that you are so good at perceiving effeminate acting men and classing them as Gay.

Have you ever been mistaken in your categorising and classed someone as Gay who you later found out was actually straight?

Have you never been surprised to learn that someone you could have sworn was straight was actually Gay?

Have you ever thought how those women who later found their husbands were Gay, felt when they learned the truth?

Have you ever thought how hurtful and nasty it may be for someone to know they are the sniggering topic of other's speculation as to their true sexuality?

Have you ever thought that Gay men you know are not trying to "act straight", but in fact are acting like an adult male should, regardless of their sexuality?

But they are still are different to how a lot of straight guys act. Watched Dan's boyfriend on BBOTS and fact is, he had obvious stereotypical gay mannerisms. I don't why some gay men I see get so huffy that women now can tell when they are gay.

I think that stereotypical views are just a lazy way for people to categorise and label others into neat little boxes. We are all more than just one "stereotype", our background, nationality, age, gender, sexuality, class, economic situation, etc surely would involve a lot of conflicting "stereotypes"
