They will have the opportunity to bid for it when the contract is up for renewal, just like itv did in 2006, which drove the price up for channel 4 to an over inflated £170 million.. By the end of the contract in 2010 it was only worth half that. Endemol always used to give channel 4 first dibs on the contract. The bottom line is, channel 4 may, and can bid and poach it from channel 5. It's left a huge hole in the programming that they've failed to successfully fill.
