![]() Sexuality is a spectrum and various people fall on different places along the line. It is not a black and white issue (i.e. you're either straight/gay/bi), on that I will agree, there are numerous differences and sliding scales involved that revolve around physical, social and sexual attraction that make sexuality such a complex enigma that differs from person to person. But that does not mean it is a choice or something that's interchangeable. If you are attracted to men and marry a woman, that doesn't make you straight as you've tried to argue on here before. That means you've been brought up in an environment where you fear coming out. If you're a heterosexual woman and decide to have sex with a woman just 'to try it' because you live by the mantra of 'don't knock it until you've tried it', that means you're experimenting. This doesn't change your sexuality...in some cases those people experimenting may realise they actually quite enjoy it and that perhaps they were bisexual all along, but that doesn't mean they've just changed their sexuality, as if it's a tangible thing. That just means they hadn't discovered themselves before. But for most experimentation is literally just that. If some straight man wasn't attracted to fat women but decided to sleep with one just to see what it's like, that's called experimentation. It's trying something you wouldn't normally do just to see what it's like. That doesn't change your sexuality, nor does it make it a choice. |

no way is she straight lol...
some sort of producers for an upcoming event, whether it be a tv show/new album or single, will have told her to go back into the closet. its sad because I really liked that she came out straight away. then she said she was bi and now she's 'straight' totall bull**** IMO... super disappointing.

I don't think the guy who played Sheldon ever denied it though.
He was pictured out in public with his partner so didn't try to hide it. It just didn't become something to confirm until his fame shot up. Last edited by Marsh.; 08-04-2014 at 03:41 PM. |

She can come out again later, people say stupid things they don't mean all the time and then go back on their word later, that's life. I still think she's not a heterosexual woman and she's changed what she's saying for the sake of her career which is on a bit of a slide at the moment. She'll regret doing that in the future I think, regardless of what her actual sexualilty is, she's lied at some point now either way and it's just making her look silly and pathetic.

IT MAY BE A CHOICE IN SOME CASES BUT NOT IN OTHERS. YOURE TRING TO CONTROL THE WHOLE WORLD OF SEXUALITY WITH YOUR OWN SMALL RULE BOOK BUT YOU CANNOT. YOURE NOT BIG BROTHER SO I SUGGEST YOU BECOME MORE OPEN MINDED AND ALLOW PEOPLE TO DEVELOP AND CHANGE AND LIVE AS THEY LIKE WITHOUT YOU LABELLING AND PIGEON HOLING BILLIONS OF PEOPLE PS BEFORE you moan about petty matters like caps lock, I did that merely to make it clearer between your words and mine |

You know something called breaking a quote down does actually exist, that's just made it impossible for me to respond now
I lean more towards nurture in the nature vs nurture argument on sexuality yes, but regardless of whether your sexuality is determined at birth or not it is still not a choice and you arguing it is is actually quite offensive. I'd argue that in a lot of places throughout the world gay people would choose to be straight if they could since that way they wouldn't have to face a life full of rejection, isolation and self-hate. Why would you choose to be gay in an environment where you felt like you'd be looked down upon for it or worse still, killed for it? The answer is - you wouldn't. I'm doing anything but 'pigeon holing' people, I'm actually doing the opposite by arguing that sexuality is a spectrum and varies from person to person and is not a black and white you're either this or that issue. That's more than most people believe. All I'm saying is that your sexuality is not a choice, is not something that can be changed and experimentation has no bearing whatsoever on your sexual orientation either, because it's just experimentation. 1) She isn't lying, she thought she was bisexual but it was a phase, i.e. was never really bisexual; in the same way that you might wear flared jeans or have a nose piercing or dye your hair green and then get bored of that phase. It's not who you really are. She's actually a heterosexual woman; so her claim of being bisexual is a bit tacky and demeaning to bisexuals. 2) She is lying, she is a bisexual woman, in which case she's going back into the closet for some undisclosed reason, potentially because her career is in trouble, in which case she's making herself look stupid in the process when down the line she'll admit that she actually is bisexual and she claimed otherwise for whatever reason. 3) She is lying, she is actually a homosexual woman, in which case she's going back into the closet for some undisclosed reason, potentially because her career is in trouble, in which case she's making herself look stupid in the process when down the line she'll admit that she's actually homosexual and she claimed otherwise for whatever reason. Regardless of which one it is, she's lied about her sexuality at some point down the line and has made herself look a bit pathetic, in my opinion. Last edited by Z; 08-04-2014 at 11:47 PM. |
