Are people really going to spam just to increase their post count though? Does anyone do that anymore? They would really care that much? If somebody spams just ban them...

Having posts not count just means it's not really a post count, is it? It's hardly an accurate representation of how many posts you've actually had meaning all the awards aren't really that true at all. If you're going to have a post count it should include every post you make, no matter how little or big, that is the point of having such a count after all.

The spamming thing was Jess and Tommy in protest of Thomas C being allowed back on the forum if I remember rightly. Other than that I never remember much spamming at all.

Nah, mine is so high because Chat and Games posts counted in 2009, when I was doing a whole lot of chatting in the the chat threads

mmm I suppose I chat more in the mod chat thread then the chat and Games ones these days but no where near as much as we did back then in the Den

Can we not just at least trial C&G posts counting again? I don't think spamming will increase and if it does just ban them

Or at least let us know what our actual post counts are for like a day? I mean someone's probably hit 100k already and we have no idea

Jack this is a few times I have noticed you posting this for different reasons...

I'm pretty sure you are aware that there would be a massive kick off if we started banning people for something like say spamming a smiley, we already have people constantly moaning when we put members on a ban for severe rule breaks.

Also mods don't get a massive post count just because of our chat thread, which doesn't contain any spamming anyway...we also post a lot in infraction and warning threads giving our opinions and discussing things about them.

There is too much spamming on the forum as it is especially with .gifs and images...

If anything I would be all for removing post count altogether, but don't think any changes need to be made atm.

Think there'd actually be loads of people with post counts in the hundreds of thousands if they did count, when you think about how quickly posts rack up in the chat threads and other c&g threads compared to in the other forums

Post counts don't really mean anything in the end so why bother?

God forbid they actually have to delete one extra post here and there.

What is the point in asking for anything, all you get is "why would we want it?", "that would cause more work for us", "we do more than you think" etc.. Someone could at least make an effort and do things that we ask for temporarily, like for a week and if it doesn't work out then fair enough, but being pessimistic about it EVERY SINGLE TIME and thinking the worst every time is not going to solve anything, it's just going to make people question you more. This forum would not exist without the members but none of the suggestions are ever looked into, there is no effort actually made to try anything because everyone thinks of the worst case scenario every time. LIGHTEN UP!
