I feel like people are saying they like Bear because they know he's got a following outside the house and they don't want to alienate themselves.

They've come around to loving him just like the majority of the public are.

In all seriousness though - I wouldn't call a change of opinion 'weak' at all, if anything it's the opposite for admitting their feelings have changed and not holding a grudge.

They've both had a soft spot for bear from the start? Not sure how people have missed that it's been quite obvious. They used to try harder to deny / hide it because they DO also find him irritating, but deep down they've never "hated" him at all.
