A combination of malt vinegar and brown sauce known simply as sauce or chippy sauce is popular on fish and chips in Edinburgh (only).

Either haddock and chips with Irish curry sauce, or a jumbo battered sausage with chips. Always salt and vinegar on the chips.

Oh and a cheeky Rissole sometimes as an extra.

“Meat gravy” ?? It’s a chippy not a carvery. The only meat is a jumbo sausage or a pie (that have gravy in anyway).

Fish, chips and gravy I’d say is the most popular order here (worked in a chippy as a teen).
