According to Wikipedia Sunderland is in the North. So go North. And Brian Ferry is from Sunderland.

Cool.

You must be having a laugh Joe. Ireland is dead and it's only going to get worse. There's nothing here. No jobs, a dying culture and some of the most ignorant people in the world.

Crap prospects, crap women, crap drugs, crap nightlife, crap industry, just crap.

We've been sold into bondage by the IMF anyway. If I were to have kids here their kids would still be paying off the **** our government's got us in.

I'd go so far as to seriously question the sanity of anyone my age who has no plans to leave.

The North is cheap, cheerful, friendly, green, sunny (rainy, foggy, snowy, hot, cold, windy) entertaining, does the best fish and chips, has the best pubs (with people that communicate) and always host the most un-civilised parties known to man

Karl don't be stupid mate!

England is dull.

Ireland is where the craic is, don't move - especially to London.
They have a reputation of being boring, ignorant and bland.

I moved there for a couple of years when I was 18, had a brilliant time. Bar work is a good way to go for meeting people and stuff (plus you usually get free food then too)

Yes. Go with some money in your pocket, it's not cheap to live in London (both for food, housing and socialising) having said that you can find some cheapish places.

Also, choose you location in London carefully, research the districts before you go. The last thing you want is to be stuck in a part of London that is too expensive, you hate or doesn't have many jobs available due to too many people living there.

Be prepared for a tough few months/year. It can take a long time to establish yourself there, you may get lucky, but it's not a sure thing.

Be confident and determined. Chances are you will get knocked back from a lot of things, but keep your determination high and look for every opportunity possible.

Oh, and have fun, it's an amazing city.

If you want cities similar and within close range to London, but slightly cheaper, you could look into Bristol (up and coming Art/music scene city) or Brighton (trendy and arty seafront city).

If living in London, a big city appeals to you then you should give it a go, I love visiting London but despite all the population it can be avery lonely place to be.

Since you are going with some friends, that could be much better, worth a try,if it didn't work out for you then you could them move elsewhere but if you don't try it you will likely always wonder what if you had...

Good luck.Hope whatever you decide all works out well for you.

Grew up in London. Didn't realise until now just how dangerous and expensive it is (Well I lived in the South) but people have told me it's mostly like that in other areas. London is brilliant if you can find somewhere decent that won't leave you with absolutely no money.

What are you basing this one on?

If you watched the news I'm sure you'd realize Ireland isin't exactly renowned for it's crack anymore.
