There is nothing to it. Joe will be #1, just like other years, because the people love the show, and buy the single, not because they are forced to. It is waht it is, and I dont see the problem. If the single came out in june, it would be #1 as well. It just happens to come out around Christmas every year.

The guy has an entire team behind him, who are probably in a locked boardroom planning his imminent takeover of the charts as we speak.
I'm not feeling sorry for him just yet. |

I like Joe but I don't want him to get Christmas number one, mainly due to the fact that I think it is about time we pissed on Simon Cowell's parade.

However it is inevitable that Joe is going to reach Christmas number one.

I just wish it wasn't this RATM song - I get it's a protest song, but was Bob Dylan's "Blowin' In The Wind" out of stock or something? Why not something festive?

It's not like we don't have many options. Mariah Carey and The Pogues ALWAYS re-enter for Christmas, and those are just two that I've noticed, there are plenty of other Christmas songs that people buy year in, year out, yet somebody chose RATM and other people jumped on the bandwagon because of the message - it's no better than having the X Factor as number 1 in the grand scheme of things. I would like to hear a Christmas number 1 that is about Christmas, hell even if an X Factor winner recorded a Christmas themed song, I'd be happy with that.

People enjoy the show then moan about the winner being no.1, personally I dont mind, but if your gonna try compete against the XF, at least chose something which will appeal to more people. Any Xmas song would be good, this RATM is awful. Ive downloaded The Pogues again

Similar kind of style of music (ish, well you can see what I'm getting at it will appeal to the same people) plus has broader appeal, and is a Christmas song |

Do you know that, for a fact?
![]() ![]() Because, if you ask me, its a genious idea!!! after how Heleluyah was able to be #2 last year, because of the anti xfactor campaign. Seriously, if I was in the music, industry, I would get in on that. I have no doubt, someone will use the idea, or already has if I can think about it. , I really dont know for sure.

Victor to win!

The problem with X Factor (and Pop Idol and shows before it) is it sorta ruins the whole Christmas no#1 thing. Only 1 X Factor winner has failed to get Christmas number 1 (Steve Brookstein who was only beaten by Band Aid). The problem with the whole thing is it makes the Christmas number 1 very predictable and boring.
Nowadays, every year from 2005 the winner of X Factor has went to number 1 instantly. It just feels sorta boring KNOWING every year that whoever wins X Factor is pretty much guarenteed number 1 at Christmas time. Good luck to RATM and i hope they do well but i think even this campaign won't be enough to stop Joe's inevitable number 1 this year. Oh and one thing to add at end is.. it wouldn't suprise me if RATM were actually involved in this. They in the past on several occasions were known for writing protest songs and being against certain parts of society in America. Whether they would be willing to fight against the music industry and reality TV is uncertain but doesn't sound unlike them. Last edited by danda012; 15-12-2009 at 01:58 PM. |

http://www.stereoboard.com/content/view/96814/9/ I think it's just more likely that who ever started this protest thought that the song was a fitting protest song. And yeah, It's a great idea to earn a few pounds if you were in the music industry lol

I fail to see why people care what's at #1 for one week of the year. So it's Christmas.. so what?

I'm back! :-)

Midweek:
RATM #1 (83,000 copies sold) JOE #2 (77,000 copies sold) This won't stay the same though. The campaign will die down and Joe will remain steady throughout the week. AND his physical release is out on Wednesday.
