People were laughing when the mum was floating around too because it just looked shoddy and the son wasn't likeable enough to root for

Yeah same went I went to see it, there was quite a bit of laughing actually. I think once people started to realise it wasn't actually going to get any better they just weren't taking it seriously. And some of the CGI was pretty awful (like the flies in the attic).

This ^ is actually better than the movie There were some interesting ideas tbf it was just the execution of it all that was the problem. Muriel deserves better!
