Nothing like a bunch of straight people to lecture us on where homophobia is and isn't!

Poor straight people, it must be so tiring to hear about inequality and abuses that other people suffer.

What do you want to be equal in that you are not equal in already ?

I'm bisexual, I know what it's like to walk down the street with a woman and how different it is when I do the same with a man. With a woman, I can be physically affectionate without worrying about a thing but with a man I won't even think of holding their hand. With a man I have to constantly be wary of people and how they react and if they might react violently. If I'm in a relationship with a man, I can't talk about it with people like I would if I was in a relationship with a woman because I constantly have to think 'would this person be a threat if they knew I wasn't straight?'

I've lived on both sides and homophobia is definitely a thing, especially when you look at this thread and see straight people denying that homophobia exists.

Yet it's still a problem, unless you're trying to tell me that you know more about homophobia then someone that's lived it?

Got to agree with this. been a long time since I was with a woman, but the difference is stark. Its a bit different, I think for female/female relationships than male/male, as men tend to like female/female stuff so instead of abuse we got random pervs shouting sexual stuff at us. I am not sure if I would prefer homophobic abuse or perverts still being homophobic but thinking they are behaving in a 'positive way'. People who have never experienced this deny it exists, but it really does. And yes, its everywhere. Even the stares and such are pretty bad. I can walk holding hands with my husband and noone thinks anything of it but do it with a female and its all eyes on you + comments. The pervy guys get even more pervy than usual too, instead of having erections brushed on you, you get them grabbing your hand to put it on their erection. Ugh. Just remembering this all is enough to put you off men for life tbh.
