It's not the same situation.

1. Saara Aalto had months to find her fans and collect new voters. The current contestants have not much time to improve.

2. Aalto is an excellent singer, she just needed a bit time to finally show her beautiful and lovely persona as well. I don't think she's ever had haters. As of Brendan, some people are really annoyed by his voice and dull persona. I don't think that he is in the same spot as Aalto was in 2016.
