No I don't think they "staged" a photo , but I think it says a lot about them as people & parents that they used a photo where Madeleine doesn't particularly look happy ,. Plus followed with they're other weird behaviour . But I think it was orchestrated when they released a photo of Madeleine with tennis balls in her hand,so it can match with their story of her playing tennis at a certain time & day .

Isn't that because the purpose of the image you're referring to was one which perfectly displays her eye, a distinguishing feature. The purpose wasn't to find one with her smiling/posing just right.
