A friend of mine was dealing with a "free range" farmer through work one time and he told her that free range guidelines are pretty misleading. people imagine chickens running free on farms all day, when in fact to qualify (and charge much more for the eggs and meat) as free range, they only have to have the chickens outside for a small percentage of time everyday so alot of times free range isn't much better. i was really disappointed to learn that. (This was in Ireland, not sure if it's the same rules in Britain or not)
