That barman and probably the manager too are likely resisting the urge to spit in your drink for kicking up a fuss when it's your own damn fault. Believe me, they are only being friendly to you because it's their job, I can guarantee that after pulling a stunt like that, you'll pretty much be a joke to the staff.

Yes I have stated I have worked as a barman on many occasions..I would instantly deliver another drink free of charge to a customer who complained in the same circumstances..and take whatever consequences came my way..I doubt any would though...I'm not to sure what type of establishments you are used to or what sort of judge of character you think you may be...you simply were not there so have no idea of body language or the way I had thier faces beeming with enjoyment before I left....
Now that is how a master minesweeper minesweeps...he sweeps from the bar rather than the customer...leaving everyone happy as he goes...they even allowed me the one I found as well.
