Good customer service is hating someone's guts and them not knowing it because you were all smiles and rainbows with them. Chances are when that barman sees you enter the pub in future, he'll have to suppress the urge to roll his eyes and sigh.
Nobody likes a difficult customer that takes joy in humiliating the staff for the customer's own lack of judgement. If everything is as you described then I can guarantee that the barman in question probably hates you.
