See, i don't think he is necessarily racist, but i do think he intended to hurt the royal family by poking fun at them because its fashionable. He can continue to refine his excuse (he has refined it 3 times already) ... it's not really the point. His post offended some people, the BBC couldn't be associated with that for obvious reasons, so he lost his job. That for me is the end of it
