A lot of guys have this daft macho thing about daughters and how they'll be sweet and innocent and need protecting and wrapped in cotton wool. My best friend had a boy first, then a girl... when she was on the way he was full of these pearls of wisdom about how it would be. At this point of course I already had 2 girls and my eldest was 8. I laughed & laughed.
Went to his daughter's 1st birthday party a couple of months back, she's already got him in his place.
He also got to experience my now-10-year-old in full "Billy Eilish mode" which has dispelled some illusions about parenting a girl.
