Default Conservative Budget (Interst rate now 0.25%) March 11th Weds. (Rishi Sunak)

Report on BBC
says its similar to what Ed Miliband had as a idea.

Making The whole of the UK
get money for improvements.

[Chancellor hints budget will loosen
purse strings after years of austerity
The budget will look to reward voters
who ousted their Labour MPs with
spending focused in the Midlands and the North.]

[The budget, Mr Javid's first as chancellor
, is aimed at sending a clear signal
that the UK is open for
business and investing
in its infrastructure and
regions outside London.]

Presumably they're not having it carved on a big bit of stone, though.

I'm in two minds about the spending promises. On the one hand, the North of England has been neglected for so long in favour of the South that it's LONG past due extra funding. On the other hand, I don't think "rewarding the people who voted you in" is how government spending should work. Once elected, the government needs to represent ALL of the public equally, whether they voted for them or not.

The visual metaphor of the stone won't be necessary, the tories will u turn, backtrack and extend the timescales on any promises made anyway.

Budget will be decreased, they'll blame the EU most likely. I do think Boris will "reward" the North for voting him in though, to maintain this new "party of the people" illusion.

Reward them with what, a reinstatement of a portion of the cuts over the last 10yrs? :/
While they syphon off other public funding for pointless ventures like HS2?
Of course whatever he does will be seen as a gift from some benevolent master... pffft!!

Sounds pretty good to me. Hope they follow through with it. From what I hear Boris was great as the Mayor, so no reason he won't be.

How long did it take... 6 weeks?

'Poorer areas that delivered*Boris Johnson’s election triumph are facing fresh cuts to local services – as funds are switched to wealthy Southern shires instead.

Hundreds of millions of pounds will be diverted*because of a new formulawhich significantly downgrades the importance of*deprivation*in assessing need, an analysis shows.'

[The upcoming Budget,
saying Chancellor Rishi Sunak will
unveil new laws
to protect the right to use cash.
The move will aim to ensure
that people who rely on cash,
such as vulnerable groups and
local communities around the UK,
can access it as and when they need it.]

[Interview with Chancellor Rishi Sunak,
ahead of his first Budget on Wednesday,
in which he promises "targeted" help for
businesses and workers to "get through to the
other side" of an economic downturn in the event of an epidemic.]
