Aw kate no, hopefully it's just a 24hr bug. Have some hot drinks as hot as you can stand. Get some antiseptic lozenges like strepsils, let us know how you are x

I pray it don't mutate again.
There are probably dozens of strains but that's normal, the variations between strains are usually small and being immune from one means being immune from all (or at least most) strains. If there's a major mutation, then it can be a different story. There are numerous measles strains for example but you only need the vaccine for "Measles A" and then you should be immune to all strains.

On a more positive note; most novel (new in humans) viruses become LESS severe in terms of symptoms / risk of death as they mutate over time. Viruses don't actually "want" the host to die - they want to exist as quietly as possible to spread as far as possible and live as long as possible in their host,so they become less severe as they adapt to human physiology.

They CAN mutate into something "worse" but its actually quite rare.

I can't understand this logic. It's debatable how much good they do?

At work I wear gloves, I wash my hands with the gloves on dozens of times in a 12hr shift, this keeps both my hands protected from the constant washing and my gloves clean.

As long as you treat your gloved hands in the same manner you would an ungloved hand in the circumstances what's the difference?

With masks most it seems are disposable and therefore are only effective for a time, that said were they not effective why are they worn at all?...why have they been staple PPE for generations?

Ideally for me PPE should be just that, personal, as in reusable... washable, with a filter. These could be manufactured cheaply and easily or homemade.

What evidence is there that PPE of this kind does not do any good out of interest?..Sounds like misinformation to me tbf.

Drink water, it's very important. And hot drinks. If you can eat, have some soup.

Well that's the thing, you do have to do everything just the same with gloves on as if you weren't wearing any gloves. People can think they're safe with gloves on but can still infect themselves just as easily. And the advice with masks has always been that you should wear them if you're symptomatic or if you're caring for someone. I didn't say they do no good and obviously it doesn't hurt to wear them but people aren't 'idiots' if they're not wearing them

Can't be that bad if it doesn't have the requisite sperm drops drawn in.

At this time , things have took such a vast turn . I believe everyone should be wearing masks & gloves when going out. If not then atleast cover your face with a scarf or something.

All you have to do is disinfect everything when you get home, you're supposed to wash your hands when you get back home anyway.

Also wipe down post & deliveries , to reduce risk of germs.

I amended the post you quoted it had said HEPA fliter, thinking they were what masks were...they're not.
I still stand by the use of a mask of some description.
If you have it but are asymptomatic then what?...
'It's debatable how much good they do' for me says you don't necessarily feel they do any good, It depends on the circumstances whether I feel people are idiots for not wearing one. Personally even if you had mild asthma I would wear one if you have to work or are out shopping say.

|If you wear a mask for more than an hour the moisture on it from your breath makes at much more attractable to airborne virus particles than your naked face ever would be

gloves are pointless unless changed 5 times an hour

Masks are effective when worn by the INFECTED - this is a message that has never really sunk in. They catch coughs and sneezes and make it less likely that surfaces will become contaminated. They do little to nothing for healthy people and as you say if they become damp they can actually make things worse.

Gloves are pointless if your hands are in good condition and you always remember to wash them after you've been "out and about" before you touch your face or anything else. Also most people have no idea how to safely remove and dispose of gloves without getting whatever was on the glove on their hand anyway.

However if you have cuts, or dry/cracked skin on your hands like Parmy, then gloves are a very good idea.
