yeah
I do think it's slightly different to be honest, the state signing off on killing people is different to random civilians cheering for it.

Nit that I would cheer for it nor do I think it should be cheered for; nothing to do with the specifics, I just think prisons should take inmate safety (of all inmates) VERY seriously and something like this being able to happen is a huge failing in that regard, and should not be applauded.

That said, given his crimes, I also think it's understandable for people to not CARE on a moral level that he was killed. That side of it gets a big "whatever".
