It did come from the popes account, they are clearly blaming Instagram claiming it to be some sort of error.
Most likely scenario is that a member of Vatican staff was having a little instaperv and accidentally hit like while scrolling. Wups.
Obviously no one is going to admit that so they're like "We must got HACKED omg".
It's like the teenage boy caught with porn equivalent of "the dog ate my homework". Haha. "I waznt looking at boobs mum honest I got hacked by the bigger boys at school!"
