From many of those who were street-interviewed in DC, it sounds like they genuinely believed themselves to be revolutionaries... that they were overthrowing the election and the whole system of government, for Trump to stay in and completely reform the "fraudulent" electoral process. They believed that was what was going to happen. They believed that the "vast majority" of the public/police/military were on their side and that the democrat win was a MASSIVE fraud brought about by a small number of villains, against "the will of the people". To the extent that they weren't just disappointed or down heartened when it didn't easily go their way - they were in disbelief. Totally shocked that they didn't end the day with their flag firmly planted on the roof and the "fraudsters" facing justice.
I saw a few clips of a woman in wide-eyed disbelief that the police were clashing with them... not angry - properly
confused, like "what is happening they are attacking the wrong people???"
