the executions are to appease his law and order base. That's all a bit complicated I think. If a jury has recommended the death penalty, then it seems "right" that the sentence is carried out after due process with appeals etc as been followed. The murderers facing the death penalty have all been pretty grim from the ones I have looked in to. If the consensus is that they don't want the death penalty, then that should be applied to the legal process of prosecution rather than letting people live on death row
