Spoiler:

It really does show how genius the original is though and just how much it puts you in Lenny's head rather than watching a straight forward movie about a guy with that condition.

I found I liked Natalie a bit more in this version, you could kind of understand a bit more why she was being an asshole to Lenny, clearly she knew he'd either killed or been an accessory to killing her boyfriend (even if he was a drug dealer) and she still did seem to feel sorry for Lenny even though she used him (but maybe she felt he owed her that revenge?

Also, the scene in the cafe with Natalie and she asks him to close his eyes and remember his wife, in some of those memories she looked stressed and upset and i wonder does that imply it was after the rape and therefore Teddy was telling the truth when he said Lenny had accidentally OD'd her? It's easier to notice that watching it chronologically because watching it backwards you don't know yet that she may have actually survived the attack.

I feel the conversation about her re reading that book had some significance as well or symbolism at least about repeating things.

So yeah watching it forwards made me end up with my original conclusion that Sammy did exist but that Lenny had somehow managed to train himself to believe that his own wife was Sammy's.

What I would like to know though is how they figured out that the killer was John G? Where did those names/initials come from?

Also, another observation, how quickly he believed Teddy about Jimmy being the one, he seemed to have just taken his word where as he was much more thorough when deciding Teddy was the one
Yes I watched the chronological version as well it was really interesting, almost like watching a different film...
Spoiler:

I found that it made you see all the other characters in a different light and how they all responded to Lennys condition more clearly
I think that Lenny was quick to believe Teddy because he wants vengeance quickly and it was easy to believe and then when that was finished he had to fabricate another whole story by himself to seek vengeance again

So..Defiance is the next film to watch i have never seen or heard of it before so I am looking forward to watching it..

I have also been watching Finding Alice on ITV player but I fear it's going to be one of those series where they make sure there are loose ends so you have to watch the next series... I prefer limited series like Russian Doll which is just brilliant ...

Spoiler:

...yeah, although we knew that it was told backwards in the original, so could piece together the plot...actually watching it in real time changed so much in terms of the characters and Natalie especially had seemed awful, but she wasn’t ...I don’t know why ‘John G’ became significant, I presumed that the killer actually was ‘John G’ and he had already killed him but obviously didn’t recall...so all of the other John G’s were invented to create the vigilante in him because as Teddy said, it was an easy name to choose...’do you have any idea how many John G’s there are..’.....it was also said that there were two people because he was hit from behind...and yet in his ‘search’ it was only ever mentioned John G...whichever way we watched it, it seems to leave so much element of unanswered..I thought that the significance of the book was just how it attached to him in repeating and repeating ‘a story’ and that he didn’t actually want it to have an ending either, because it enabled him to ‘have a purpose’ in his grief, he wouldn’t ever stop living in his story..it’s all so well done and so fascinating...did he pinch his wife’s thigh or did he give an insulin injection...we still don’t really know....

Lenny shot and killed the 2nd guy the night his wife was attacked, that's why they were only looking for one guy

I watched the start of Defiance yesterday on my lunch break but decided to turn it off because it was pretty good so I'm going to watch it with Gav tonight instead because I think he will like it too

...I’ve watched around 4/5 episodes of Finding Alice so far and I’m loving it but it didn’t occur to me that loose ends wouldn’t be tied up, goddamn them......I’m too invested to stop watching now and Keeley is totally fabulous as Alice...but I hope it doesn’t leave us nowhere in the end...I’ll check out Russian Doll, it’s not one I’m familiar with...

....yeah, I guess that Defiance wouldn’t really be a classic as such, but I’m stretching classic a bit as we all have different network channel access to movies...it’s more difficult that I thought in finding movies we can all watch...

...I was going to check how available Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was...I don’t know if anyone would think that would be a good watch/re-watch...or it could be a lighter movie, more comedy...

I don't think anything is stretching it when it comes to classic movie, it's just any movies that have resonated regardless of how well known they are

I have a few days off now in a row so I'm going to watch Defiance & Eternal sunshine...I remember watching Eternal when it came out but thats years ago
so i can't recall the details..is that ironic?

Yes it's definitely a good idea to watch something lighter and comedic... I was thinking about recommending an early Kevin Smith movie at some point...

...oh I had to google Kevin Smith.....how dumb was that when I look at the movies, so many I haven’t seen as well...I loved Dogma, though...that’s the one I recall most...

Just did a google of him too, I've seen Dogma as well but not many more, I'd be up for one of his too

...yeah, you’re right about stretching them to fit whichever movies we want to watch because they left that lasting vibe with us...there has been so few new movies this last year because of COVID so it was becoming difficult to find any I hadn’t seen...but actually flipping that difficulty to take the opportunity for re-watches has been excellent, I’m loving it...
