Default Not taking anymore parcels in for neighbours

My next-door neighbour has always got parcels delivered. But it looks like they've hit some financial difficulty recently because I saw their Range Rover being taken away. Never seen it since.

That hasn't stopped her getting parcels though. She used to be in all day. And I'd see her passing the house walking the dog. It appears she's got a job now, but still no Range Rover.

I say all this because 4 times since week I have taken in a parcel for her. But last night was the limit. She came ringing the doorbell at 10.20pm.

If I order something online, I make blinkin' sure I am in to receive it. And she never says thanks.

So today the postman was banging on our door - not with a parcel for me because I haven't ordered anything. It'll be for next door. No way. Never again.

i stopped taking parcels for neighbours a long time ago, and i wouldn't expect a courier to leave a parcel for me with a neighbour either. It's wrong from every aspect

Well said. And it was the manner in which the postman was knocking on the door as if either we are a parcel pickup service or it was our parcel.

We used to take things in for our neighbour until he had a pricey guitar delivered...we took it in and left it in our dining room. We later noticed a hole in the packaging....he failed to pick it up so we took it round to him and he complained that we shouldnt have accepted it because of the damaged packaging.....

We never spoke again....

It's ridiculous. This woman next door never says thanks either.

I took some big bags of dog food in once for a woman a few doors up. But she was very nice and apologized and thanked me. But that was only once.

When we first moved in...I took a parcel from Boden (very middleclass ) for the neighbor in the biggest house in our set of 5. Bearing in mind I hadnt met her I delivered it and introduced myself...she pretty much grunted and took the parcel like your neighbour...she went straight on the hit list...

Thing is the likes of you and I and many others are just being thoughtful and helpful but it takes nothing to say Thankyou and show a bit of appreciation...and if people cannot do that then they deserve nothing...in the long run its their loss.

It’s very rarely it happens now as people are working from home but we have always taken in parcels and had parcels taken for us with no issue ...must just be lucky

We have new neighbours now and we will do it for them...but like you say with so many working from home now it doesn't happen that much.

You're right. I must admit though if I am expecting a parcel, it's then the postman will say, 'will you take one in for next door?' Next time I am in that position I will say no, 'I'm going out myself.'

The thing is if I take parcels in, I'm the one that cannot go out, just in case the neighbour comes for their parcel. And it's so rude to ring the doorbell at 10.20pm.

Actually, when you order parcels online there is sometimes an option to pick them up yourself from a shop or mall.

What a rude woman not to say thankyou and how dare she knock you at that time of night
I don't blame you for not taking anymore but next time answer and tell the postie you will no longer be accepting parcels for her and they should stop knocking you.

In our local mall, there is an Amazon booth where your parcel pick-ups are stored.

Good for you. I was actually half-clothed on the bed when she rang the doorbell.

Backdoors after 9pm is acceptable. Your friendly neighbour, coming round the back so you dont have to open your front door to the street is an act of lifelong friendships.

I know. These people must be operating on a different time zone clock.
